We even supply the permits for your convenience.
Electric cars are taking the world by storm as more people try to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and opt for a reliable, affordable source of transportation. Electric cars require less maintenance, making them far more accessible to drive. You won’t need oil changes, which makes them better for the environment. You’ll get better mileage from using your EV charger and reduce general maintenance costs over the life of your car.

While many home appliances are “plug-and-play,” an EV charging station is a high-demand appliance that places a significant load on your home’s electrical infrastructure. Attempting a DIY installation or hiring an unlicensed handyman can lead to overheating, tripped breakers, or even electrical fires.
At Hi-Lite Electric, our licensed electricians ensure that your home’s electrical panel can handle the increased load. We perform a comprehensive load calculation before every installation. If your current panel is reaching its capacity, we can provide seamless panel upgrades or install smart load-management systems that prioritize your car’s charging without interrupting your home’s other electrical needs.
Choosing the right charger is about balancing speed and infrastructure.
When you choose Hi-Lite Electric, we follow a rigorous process to ensure your installation is safe, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing:
The transition to electric mobility is supported by various levels of government. Depending on current provincial and federal programs, homeowners and business owners in Toronto and the GTA may be eligible for rebates on the purchase and installation of EV charging stations.
Additionally, many insurance companies look favorably upon professional installations verified by an ESA certificate. By choosing Hi-Lite Electric, you are ensuring that your installation meets the highest safety standards, which protects your property value and your vehicle’s warranty.
The world of EVs is evolving rapidly. Modern “Smart Chargers” allow you to monitor your charging sessions via a smartphone app, schedule charging for times when electricity is cheapest, and even integrate with solar power systems.
When we install your station, we don’t just think about the car you drive today; we think about the future. We can install larger-gauge wiring or additional conduit to ensure that if you add a second EV to your household in the future, the infrastructure is already in place. This “future-proofing” approach saves you thousands of dollars in labor and material costs down the road.
We are proud to be the leading choice for EV charger installations across the Greater Toronto Area. Whether you are in the heart of downtown Toronto, the suburbs of Mississauga, or the growing communities of Vaughan and Richmond Hill, our fleet of fully stocked vehicles is ready to serve you.
We understand the local building codes and the specific challenges of GTA homes—from older houses in Etobicoke that require delicate panel work to new builds in Brampton ready for high-tech integration.
Our commitment to safety is why we are members of the Electrical Safety Authority’s (ESA) Authorized Contractor Program (ACP). This means our work is consistently monitored and held to a higher standard than the average contractor. When it comes to high-voltage EV charging, there is no room for error. We stand behind every wire we pull and every charger we mount with our 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Yes! In many cases, we can use "tandem" breakers to create space or install a sub-panel. If your home’s total power supply is insufficient, we can also install a Load Management Device (DCC). This smart device monitors your home's total power usage and temporarily pauses the car charger if you turn on another heavy appliance (like an electric oven), then resumes charging once power is available.
While cold weather can reduce a vehicle's battery range, it does not negatively affect the charger's ability to deliver power. We use industrial-grade, cold-weather-rated cabling for all outdoor installations to ensure the cables remain flexible and durable even in -40°C temperatures.
While you will see an increase in your electrical usage, it is significantly cheaper than the cost of gasoline. By charging during "Off-Peak" hours (typically overnight), most GTA residents find that they save between 70% and 80% on "fuel" costs compared to a traditional internal combustion engine.
